This collection of poetry sheds light on the cultural merge experienced by the immigrant; simultaneously marked by a sense of hope and loss.

It reads as a sum of pauses capturing the author often times unguarded by the pull of her own memories, while fully conscious of the contrasting scenario around her. The American dream is addressed as a metaphor and philosophical incentive to preserve one’s identity amidst the marring struggle of daily life.

The text is a letter of mourning but also gratitude, for a past that is still very much palpable and vibrant. And it is the nostalgia of this past the fuel that carries not only the narrative time but the writer herself.
